Central Louisiana State Hospitallocated inPineville, Louisianais seeking applicants for a vacant position in ourNursing Departmentas a Psychiatric Aide 1-2who assists to create and maintain a therapeutic environment for mentally ill and/or substance abuse patients which includes performing routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, and tending to patient needs.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

• Maintains accountability of patients and awareness of patients’ whereabouts at all times, reporting and documenting appropriately during assigned 12-hour shift.

• Assist in management of aggressive behavior, utilizing therapeutic intervention techniques and utilizes safety interventions to apply physical restraints.

• According to hospital policy, observes, provides care, reports and documents patients’ special precautions.

• Interacts with patients as a therapeutic function.

• Observes and reports condition of patients to professional staff and supervises patients engaged in planned daily activities.

• Conducts and facilitates groups in therapeutic activities such as unit meetings and work or activity therapies.

• In accordance with policy, communicates pertinent information regarding patients, employees, visitors, unit personnel, etc. to supervisors or other authorized persons.

• Participates in shift change report and attends patient staffing conferences and treatment team meetings

• Performs routine nursing duties such as taking vital signs, weighing patients, collecting and labeling urine and lab specimens or drug screens.

• Documents on patients’ charts concerning behavioral observations, vital signs, symptoms, accidents, injuries, etc.

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, Job Appointment, Demotion, Transfer, or WAE

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Psychiatric Aide 1 or 2.

Compensation:This position has a Special Entrance Rate of $972.00 bi-weekly for a Psychiatric Aide 1 and $1,040.00 bi-weekly for a Psychiatric Aide 2. Position is eligible for premium pay of $1.50 per hour and Longevity pay starting at $1.00 per hour.
