Mysten Labs Core Team Engineer

Join the innovative Walrus Core team at Mysten Labs, where you will help build Walrus, our efficient decentralized storage network. You will play a critical role in developing the software that powers Walrus' storage nodes and infrastructure. Your mission will be to enhance Walrus' usability for builders while upholding our high standards for safety, reliability, and efficiency.

We are looking for passionate engineers skilled in systems programming, whether it's in storage systems, distributed systems, or low-level performance optimization. Your work will focus on improving the performance and reliability of the Walrus network, contributing to core protocol design, and guaranteeing secure and efficient network operations. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of the web3 landscape at Mysten Labs.

What You'll Do:

  1. Design, implement, and maintain the core of Walrus, encompassing storage nodes, client software, smart contracts, and the necessary toolchains.
  2. Collaborate with research, cryptography, production, security, and Sui core teams to ensure the security, performance, and reliability of the Walrus network.
  3. Optimize current systems for scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
  4. Work with diverse teams at Mysten Labs to integrate new features and technologies.

What You'll Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in systems and/or network programming, preferably in Rust, C, or C++.
  • Experience designing and developing systems in areas such as distributed systems, consensus protocols, storage/database systems, high-performance systems, or networking protocols.
  • Hands-on production experience managing and operating live systems, with a strong emphasis on reliability and system monitoring.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A proven track record of driving complex projects to successful completion.

If You Have It, Nice

  • Experience with Rust programming.
  • A background in blockchain technology or knowledge of cryptographic protocols.
  • Significant contributions to open source projects.
  • Research experience in relevant computer science topics, formal (MSc/PhD) or informal.
