Job purpose
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver high quality designs for the structural and mechanical functions of new turf products.
  • Use FEA software to create virtual models, run simulations, interpret results, and solve complex problems.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Produce high quality engineering work that meets project deadlines and goals
  • Develop advanced analytical models of physical tests and phenomenon using FEA and CAD software
  • Responsible for FEA meshing, boundary condition set up, analysis and reporting.
  • Solving technical challenges related to new product design
  • Collaboration with other members of the design team, test and evaluation, manufacturing, purchasing, quality control, etc. throughout the entire design process from concept generation to prototyping and production
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member must have the ability to work in office, test field, and manufacturing environments
  • The team member must also be able to work extended and flexible work hours to interface with workers on all shifts as well as international business units and must be physically able to travel domestically and internationally
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering-related field
  • New product development experience
  • Knowledge of engineering mechanics and vehicle system design: structures, mechanisms, statics, dynamics, kinematics, etc.
  • Experience with linear and nonlinear finite element analysis using programs such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, CATIA, Altair, Dyna, and Hyper Works
  • Experience with data analysis software such as nCode and DEWESoft
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Ansys SpaceClaim
  • Knowledge and understanding of metallurgy
  • Experience and demonstrated success working in a cross-cultural environment
  • Computer skills including MS Office and Google-based programs
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes such as cutting, drilling, welding, forming, and machining
  • Organizational and motivational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Master's degree in mechanical or similar engineering-related field or mathematics
  • Experience collaborating with mixed Japanese and American teams and leadership
  • Experience with turf, mowing and outdoor power equipment
  • Experience with Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Calibrated Accelerated Life Testing (CALT)
  • Experience with Accelerated Design Verification (ADV)
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Bilingual: Japanese preferred
