JOB TITLE: Estimator

Position Summary:

Responsible for review of Structural design inputs, identifying scope items, preparing material take-off and estimating Fabrication work for projects with grating scope. Coordinate with customers & sales team as necessary to ensure projects are completed within budget and in agreed schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary interface with customer during the estimating phase of the project
  • Review contract documents, establish scope items along with any applicable exclusions
  • Provides or coordinates scope changes to sales and customer
  • Performs detailed material take-off, include fabrication work involved such as welding, etc.
  • Collaborate with Sales team in pricing for new bids
  • Obtain clarifications from customers as needed for clarifying scope items
  • Develops or manages requests for information (RFI's)
  • Meet deadlines to ensure projects are completed within the requested bid dates.
  • Resolves issues or involves appropriate departments for resolution.
  • Review contract additions and deletions, prepare change orders for applicable items
  • Work in a team environment
  • Coordinate with inside / outside sales groups where required
  • May require some short time travel
  • Other duties may apply as required
Basic Qualifications:

A. Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Industrial or Construction Engineering or Management, preferable.
  • Associate of Applied Science degree, drafting or construction management, encouraged to apply
B. Experience:
  • Minimum of 3+ yrs. of experience in Estimating & Detailing of Structural Steel & miscellaneous steel detailing for commercial or industrial construction projects, preferable
C. Other requirements:
  • Knowledge in 2D & 3D Cad software, a plus
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent Technical Skills
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Must have a customer-oriented approach to business situations
Essential Functions:
  • Estimating of Miscellaneous Steel scope, material take-off based on the design inputs provided
  • All work to be performed following the guidelines of applicable building codes & NAAMM standard practices
Preferred Qualifications:

A. Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Industrial or Construction Engineering
  • Associate of Applied Science degree, drafting or project management
B. Other requirements:
  • Knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding practices, OSHA safety standards, required
  • Detailing or modeling using Tekla or SDS2, preferable
C. Other Skills:
  • Read Structural design inputs, working knowledge in BIM process
  • Computer - Microsoft Office
  • Mathematical skills
