Journeyman Locksmith

We are seeking a skilled and trustworthy Journeyman Locksmith to perform a wide range of locksmith services, including installation, repair, and maintenance of locks, keys, and security systems. The position requires on-site work during regular government working hours and adherence to strict security and trustworthiness standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install locks, hardware, and security systems in existing buildings and new construction projects.
  • Disassemble and troubleshoot issues with locks and hardware.
  • Repair existing locks and hardware as needed.
  • Re-key and replace locks and hardware when required.
  • Unlock car doors for customers.
  • Cut new keys and create duplicate keys.
  • Ensure security systems are functioning properly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of locks, hardware, and security systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited master key system/locksmith course by the Associated Locksmiths of America or equivalent.
  • Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship preferred.
  • Successful completion of a federal background check required.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically capable of installing and repairing locks and related hardware.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
Special Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must pass a federal background screening and drug test.
  • Must meet trustworthiness determination as specified in SECNAVINST 5510.36A (chapters 10-15).
  • Licenses: If required in the state of Georgia, provide a copy of completed locksmith licenses.
  • On-site during the Government's regular working hours.
  • Completed accredited master key system/locksmith course by the Associated Locksmiths of America or equivalent.

Contractor Work Hours:

The Government's regular working hours are from 0700-1600, five days per week, Monday through Friday, except observed Federal holidays. Some additional work required beyond

Regular working hours as required to meet contract obligations.
