Accountant Staff

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with routine accounting activities in support of the monthly and annual close process, including account analysis, Balance Sheet reconciliations, posting journal entries, and preparing financial statements and analysis packages. Also provides support for the annual audit, annual budget process and ad hoc analysis support for special projects.

Essential Position Functions:
- Assist in preparation of schedules, reconciliations, journal entries, and reports as part of the monthly and annual closing process and in support of the annual audit.
- Prepare supporting schedules, Balance Sheet reconciliations and journal entries for month-end close.
- Analyze General Ledger accounts to identify variances and recommend adjusting entries.
- Investigate subledger-to-General Ledger variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Document all journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Provide support for the year-end close process and audit.
- Assist in researching and recommending implementation approaches for new Accounting Standards.
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial analysis packages and statements.
- Respond to branch management inquiries about financial reports and transactions.
- Provide support with special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Undergraduate Degree in Accounting required.
- CPA license preferred.
- 2+ years accounting experience preferred.
- Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows) skills.
- Must be comfortable using Company ERP to provide and obtain financial and operational information.
- Must possess excellent analytical skills, be accurate and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Well organized, flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills.
- Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.
- Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

- Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
- Employee works under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet.
