Job Title: Nutritionist
Job Type: Full-Time/Contract *This role is a 6-month assignment.
Job Salary: $33.51-$35.91/ hour *dependent on experience*
Job Schedule: Mon-Thu 8:00 AM-5:30 PM; Fri 8:00 AM-12:00 PM; 3rd Sat (monthly) 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.

The Nutritionist is responsible for determining program eligibility of applicants, providing counseling and nutrition education to clients individually or in groups, assigning food package prescriptions, evaluating the need for special formulas and participating in quality assurance activities on a monthly basis. At times the Nutritionist will also evaluate clients for income and residency requirements, perform laboratory evaluations of growth and iron status and do data entry and food benefit issuance.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine program eligibility for applicants and recertifications using federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Perform nutrition assessments including anthropometrics, dietary history, and iron status; assign nutritional risk codes.
- Provide individual and group nutrition counseling and education tailored to pregnant, postpartum women, infants, and children.
- Assign and manage food package prescriptions and evaluate/authorize special formulas as needed.
- Issue food benefits and perform accurate data entry into internal systems; maintain client records and confidentiality.
- Participate in monthly quality assurance activities, audits, and program improvement efforts to ensure compliance and service quality.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field with 24 semester hours in Food & Nutrition (required).
- Experience: experience in community nutrition or maternal/child health is preferred.
- Skills: Strong counseling and communication skills, attention to detail for data entry and benefit issuance, ability to work under time pressure, and basic physical ability for clinic tasks.
- Certifications: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or eligibility is preferred but not required.
