The City of Danbury is announcing an Open Competitive position of Part-time Elderly Services Office Associate
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Director of Elderly Services, assists with all aspects of coordinating the Elmwood Hall Senior Center. Works closely with Coordinator of Senior Center to assist in delivery of all programs to senior population.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Open senior center and prepare for all daily activities including setting up chairs, tables, a/v equipment, make coffee, prepare refreshments, etc.
  • Water all plants/gardens.
  • Keep track of all kitchen/program supplies and prepare purchase requisitions.
  • Keep all condiments stocked.
  • Provide customer service, greet visitors, members, provide orientations / membership information
  • Assist with receiving various weekly food donations to Prime Timers, Inc: Friends of Danbury Seniors for use at Elmwood Hall.
  • Assist with preparation and execution of all parties, special events and fundraisers.
  • Work "the floor" and be available to assist seniors with their needs regarding programs.
  • Close senior center and break down from all daily activities including chairs, tables, a/v equipment, etc.
  • Maintain/keep clean all kitchen appliances, including commercial coffee pot on daily basis.
  • Transfer documents/mail/supplies from Old Jail to Elmwood Hall
  • Transfer documents/mail from Elmwood Hall to City Hall
  • Obtain/pick up supplies from various vendors.
  • Coordinates Social Wellness Call and Card Outreach program
  • Back-up front desk staff.
  • Submit maintenance requests as needed to Public Buildings.
  • Various and sundry activities as needed by director.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned.

Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:

Knowledge of social / human service programs / issues affecting an older adult population. Ability to work well with an older adult population and the public; organizational skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, knowledge of M/S Office, social media, tablet devices, smart board, smart TV and other digital media. Ability to work independently. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of previous experience working in a social / human service environment with predominate focus on the older adults a plus.
