Our client is a nationally recognized law firm with a robust bankruptcy and restructuring practice focused on representing creditor interests. Known for its collaborative culture and high-caliber legal work, the firm is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to support complex matters involving Chapter 11 proceedings, official creditor committees, and a broad range of institutional clients.

Job Description:

The Bankruptcy Paralegal will provide end-to-end case management and litigation support to attorneys handling high-profile creditor-side bankruptcy cases. This includes preparing filings, managing dockets and calendars, coordinating with court personnel, claims agents, and clients, and supporting attorneys with hearings and committee communications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, file, and serve pleadings in federal bankruptcy courts (NJ, NY, DE), ensuring compliance with court rules
  • Draft and file retention applications, fee applications, and other committee-related court documents
  • Handle all aspects of proofs of claim and claims reconciliation
  • Maintain complex case calendars and deadline tracking tools for multiple active matters
  • Monitor bankruptcy dockets and summarize pleadings for internal teams and clients
  • Liaise with court staff, claims agents, and creditor committees to ensure seamless case progression
  • Assist with hearing and trial preparation, including exhibit binders, logistics, and attorney coordination
  • Track and record billable time, prepare invoices, and manage billing documentation
  • Respond to creditor inquiries and perform administrative follow-up as needed
Qualifications:
  • 6-8+ years of experience as a bankruptcy paralegal, with a strong focus on creditor-side work and committee representation required
  • Bachelor's degree required; Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Chapter 11 procedures, court systems (PACER/ECF), and claims processes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with legal billing software a plus
Additional Details:
  • Hybrid schedule with in-office presence required several days per week
  • Reports to supervising attorneys within the Bankruptcy & Restructuring group
  • Role requires occasional overtime depending on court and case deadlines
