So, what will the On-Call CDL Driver at Terrestris do?
As the On-Call CDL Driver you will be responsible for safely operating company-owned / rented / leased commercial vehicles to transport goods, equipment, vehicles, or materials to designated locations on an as-needed basis. This position provides flexible support to meet fluctuating business demands, covering scheduled absences, peak workloads, or special assignments.
This position is ideal for experienced CDL drivers seeking flexibility and supplemental income, or for retired professionals who wish to remain active in the workforce without a full-time schedule. The on-call driver plays a vital role in ensuring the continuity of operations and customer satisfaction during high-demand periods.
What does a typical day look like for an On-Call CDL Driver?
You will:
- Operate company vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, FMCSA, etc.).
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
- Transport materials, equipment, or personnel to assigned destinations in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to company policies regarding safety, load securement, and vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, and delivery documentation.
- Assist with loading and unloading as required.
- Remain available for on-call assignments, sometimes with short notice, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as business needs dictate.
You might be the professional we're looking for if you have:
- A current valid CDL (Class A or Class B) license with a clean driving record.
- A current DOT Medical Card.
- Proven ability to operate assigned vehicles (e.g., box truck, flatbed, tractor-trailer, tanker, or dump truckdepending on company use).
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform basic physical tasks related to loading/unloading.
- Dependable, professional, and adaptable to changing schedules or assignments.
We are impressed by folks with:
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement.
- Passenger endorsement.
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures regulations associated with a typical U.S. military installation.
- Prior military experience.
