Schedule Details/Additional Information:

Schedule/Hours:
Full-time evening shift, 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday with on-call duties, primarily overnight (5-8 slots) and occasional weekend on-call (1-2 slots) in an 8-week schedule. Call hours may vary, and prompt arrival within 30 minutes is required.

Major Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and safe surgical environment, utilizing aseptic techniques for the preparation of materials and equipment.
• Assist with various surgical procedures and maintain knowledge of multiple techniques.
• Ensure operating room efficiency by setting up and managing equipment pre and post-surgery.
• Act as a Second Assistant as needed during surgical procedures.
• Communicate equipment and supply issues effectively to the appropriate staff.
• Transport patients and supplies responsibly.
• Maintain specialty carts, ensuring all supplies are ready and sterile.
• Adapt to patient needs across different ages, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire unless exempted by department leader.

Education Required:

• Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology.

Experience Required:

• No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Understanding of aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic proficiency in computer systems.
• Commitment to maintaining annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 40 lbs. a short distance.
• Push and pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform transfers of 150 lbs. with assistance.
• Routine use of personal protective equipment including masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns.
• Functional sight and hearing are required.
