Complete Description:

This role requires an Automation and DevOps Engineer to convert Java/JEE applications to Maven and migrate the projects to GitHub. The engineer will collaborate with the Automation team to convert Eclipse/RAD-compliant projects into Maven-based projects and use GitHub Actions to build and publish them. The engineer will also work closely with the Operations team to automate deployments to the WebSphere application server. Strong knowledge of shell and Jython scripting in a Unix environment is essential for this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Convert Java/JEE applications from Eclipse/RAD-based projects to Maven-based projects.
  • Migrate the projects to GitHub for version control and use GitHub Actions for building and publishing.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to automate the deployment process to WebSphere Application Server.
  • Write and maintain Unix/bash scripts for automation tasks.
  • Develop Jython scripts for system-level automation.
  • Ensure proper configuration and management of Java applications in GitHub repositories.
  • Perform continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) tasks using GitHub Actions.
  • Work on optimizing existing Java applications for improved performance and efficiency in the development pipeline.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Java development (Java SE and Java EE).
  • Strong experience with Maven (Desired: 10+ years) for build automation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Git Repo Management and version control with GitHub (Required: 10 years).
  • Experience with GitHub Actions (Required: 5 years) for automation and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong experience with WebSphere Application Server and related deployment automation (Required: 8 years).
  • Proficient in Jython scripting (Required: 5 years).
  • Advanced knowledge of Unix/bash scripting (Required: 5 years).
  • Experience with Java EE development frameworks.
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycle and deployment processes.
