Summary
The Mental Health/Domestic Violence staff person will function as consultant to ACS, under the supervision of the TCCNY Team Coordinator/ Project Director and will be located full time within one of the ACS Field Office Sites located in New York City.
Essential Functions:
- Conducting formal and informal consultations with ACS Child Protective Specialists on their cases which include mental health and/or domestic violence concerns. The CCS consultant will assist in assessing the presence of these concerns and help determine the specific level of interventions required to strengthen the family and reduce risk to the children, providing concrete tools and casework guidance.
- Consultant will meet productivity requirements including number of formal consultations per week and writing reports for every consultation, within an acceptable time frame.
- Participate in family team meetings, case conferences and child safety conferences as required and approved by the Team Coordinator and/ or Director to assist ACS workers with providing client with psychoeducation, referrals, and raising awareness of the concerns presented and impact on the children. Direct client contact is to model and/ or demonstrate effective interventions and engagement strategies for the benefit of caseworkers or other ACS staff.
- Develop and conduct mental health or domestic violence trainings for ACS Child Protective Specialists, supervisors, and managers. Training topic to be determined by the needs of the field office in collaboration with the CCP team. Curriculum will be written and specific, and creative in approach to engage ACS staff in learning and transfer of knowledge.
- Attending case reviews as an important training tool, as per request of ACS and approval of the Team Coordinator/ Director.
- Attending bi-monthly CCS citywide mental health and domestic violence meetings- as determined by the Team Coordinator/ Director.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of community-based resources for referral for mental health and/or domestic violence services.
- Occasional field visits when necessary to assist with engaging clients.
- None
- LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LMHC with at least three years clinical experience preferred
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent engagement skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to understand, respect and work in a host environment
- Word, excel, power point skills required.
- Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
- Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.
- Creating and maintaining a safe space with children and their family members.
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
- Safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity standards.
- Maintain an understanding of the principles, methods and processes needed to perform the job. Attends staff meetings, seminars and in-service training as assigned.
- Demonstrates the ability to complete work in an acceptable manner by the time and/or date established with accuracy, neatness and thoroughness and minimal amount of errors.
- Maintain established departmental policies and procedures including maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to all HIPAA guidelines at all times.
Physical demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit for long period of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or control; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
