Your Responsibilities - Essential Duties

  • Safely load, secure, transport, and offload CarMax vehicles among stores, auctions, vendors, and logistics hubs using a company-provided car hauler.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of vehicles to enhance inventory movement and customer satisfaction.
  • Operate equipment with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and cleanliness while maintaining a well-kept truck and trailer.
  • Adhere to all DOT/FMCSA regulations and CarMax policies concerning the operation of a commercial vehicle, including conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and following hours-of-service guidelines.
  • Represent CarMax with professionalism in interactions with vendors, store staff, and the general public.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid state-issued commercial driver's license Class A (CDL) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Class A CDL driving experience required; military driving experience will be recognized.
  • Current CarMax employees may apply with at least 2 years of Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driving experience at CarMax if they possess a valid state-issued Class A CDL.
  • Clean driving record with no serious violations in the last three years; candidates must meet CarMax's Driver Safety Evaluation standards.
  • Ability to meet DOT & FMCSA qualification criteria.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects and winch transported vehicles during loading.
  • Proficiency in operating a 10-speed transmission.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $26.20 to $44.60.

Benefits:

Except where state law specifies otherwise, CarMax Associates receive the following paid time off:

  • Up to 48 hours of sick time per year, accruing each pay period, along with 80 to 200 hours of vacation time per year after a 90-day waiting period based on years of continuous service.
  • Paid time off for six scheduled holidays each year and one floating holiday. Working on a scheduled holiday may qualify for Holiday Premium Pay.

For full-time salaried associates, there is no specified limit on paid time away for various needs subject to manager approval.
