Certifications: American Heart Association BLS Certified Surgical Technologist

Must-Have:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
- Expertise in the theory and application of surgical technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and tools and technologies for patient care

Description:
The Surgical Technologist functions in the role of scrub person.
This position works under the supervision of the surgeon and the RN.
The Surgical Technologist ensures that the operating room environment is safe.
They confirm that equipment functions properly.
They also ensure that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Responsible for assuring completion of case carts according to preference cards.
Recognizes and interprets preference cards for the procuring of instruments and supplies.
Communicates clearly with operating room staff and sterile processing staff.
Coordinates instrumentation throughout the day for scheduled and non-scheduled cases.
Reviews the daily schedule with the charge nurse and the day coordinator of sterile processing.
This helps identify possible turnover delays and scheduling issues.
Assumes responsibility for the core phone and communications inherent in the position.
Delegates duties accordingly and coordinates breaks and lunches with appropriate individuals.
Acts as a resource for the departments of SPD and Surgical Services for the procurement of necessary items.
Communicates and coordinates with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment.
The facility reserves the right to cancel three shifts per 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances.
Traveler must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered.
Holiday coverage is required.
