The Integrated Design and Advisory is one of the business verticals at Michael Baker International with more than 850 professionals located across the country. Description:

Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Mission Critical/Data Center) who is highly motivated and demonstrates professional initiative. The ideal candidate will be focused on achieving positive client outcomes and possess strong organizational and time management skills to efficiently handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent technical and specification writing skills are required. Responsibilities will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing members, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigations, and overall construction administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design electrical systems for mission-critical/data center projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Perform technical evaluations and provide solutions to complex electrical engineering challenges.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and codes.
  • Help grow a team that works together to create a collaborative environment that promotes career growth, the production of high-quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and acts as a safety net for each other.
  • Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development.
  • Mentor, organize, and facilitate the growth of junior staff.
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Establish client relations, and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding electrical systems.
  • Assist Marketing and Business Development groups in developing fee proposals and scope of work documents.
  • Work with clients to understand their project specific requirements around reliability, growth increments, first cost versus life cycle costs, sustainability, construction schedules, and future flexibility.
  • Attending and leading design meetings with other team members.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
  • Performing QA/QC review of construction documents, specifications, and technical reports
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Design support during construction including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, Request for Information (RFI) support.
Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent technical and specification writing abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Minimum of 15 years of consulting engineering experience in the design of high reliability electrical systems.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, BIM Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • US Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Data Center/Mission Critical experience an architectural/engineering, or engineering consulting firm is desired.
  • Extensive knowledge of the NEC, uninterruptible power systems, power distribution, generator support systems, grounding systems, and one-line creation.
  • Strong desire to stay current with the trends of the fast-paced industry of mission critical.
  • Working knowledge of the following programs: Bluebeam Revu, SKM Power Tools (or similar power system analysis tools), CYMCAP (or similar programs based on Neher-McGrath and IEC-60287 methods), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $105,000-$180,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
