Capital Markets Senior Accountant

The Capital Markets group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Capital Markets team. The candidate is to have demonstrated knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including preparing and understanding journal entries, completing daily, monthly, and quarterly functions, together with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. This position will also require the candidate to work with other departments to ensure GAAP compliance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the accounting process is reliable, accurate, and timely to support the preparation of financial statements and executive management reporting.
- Prepare daily journal entries of Capital Markets activities to assist with the monthly closing of the general ledger.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Research, monitor, report, and address outstanding reconciling items.
- Interpret and analyze financial information to ensure that the financial statement shows an accurate representation of capital markets activity.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal and state regulations, together with all established Bank policies and procedures.
- Improve existing processes and implement new processes related to financial reporting that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
- Respond to inquiries from other departments.
- Support and promote the Bank's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, high volume, work environment with accuracy and minimal supervision.
- Ability to determine and communicate key priorities, and ensure resources are properly aligned.
- Provides strong, compassionate, and visible leadership, which fosters positive attitudes and trust among employees, customers, and prospects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Undergraduate college degree in Accounting.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles; understanding how GAAP applies to Capital Markets and/or Municipal Advisory activities is a plus.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to be physically present in our Corporate Office to perform job duties.
- Display a positive team-work attitude with associates in all departments.
