Role Overview
- Conduct thorough assessments on patients across various age groups, employing both standardized tests and keen observational skills.
- Create individualized treatment strategies catering to specific communication challenges, focusing on both immediate and future developmental goals.
- Deliver focused speech therapy sessions emphasizing varied aspects like language skills, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing.
- Collaborate seamlessly with other healthcare professionals-therapists, nurses, physicians, and family members-ensuring a united approach to patient care.
- Provide insightful education for patients and families to encourage progress and reinforce skills outside of therapy.
- Participate in hospital settings when necessary, contributing to inpatient evaluations while ensuring uninterrupted care throughout the recovery process.
- Maintain precise documentation consistent with local, federal, and organizational expectations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to keep up with the latest techniques in speech-language pathology.
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not already ASHA-certified.
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of starting the role.
- Strong foundation in evidence-based practices for patients of all ages, with an emphasis on both developmental and acquired communication disorders.
- Exceptional communication skills with a focus on building relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
- Adaptability to modify therapy techniques to accommodate a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
