This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.

The Middleware Systems Programmer is responsible for the technical support, administration, and maintenance of middleware software and systems. This role involves evaluating, recommending, installing, and configuring middleware solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The incumbent monitors system and application performance, resolves technical issues, and documents standards, procedures, and best practices to support consistent and efficient Middleware Operations.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at¿600 North Robert St. Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT experience supporting middleware software, application servers, and web servers.

Experience must include:

• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, including command-line operations and scripting.

• Experience supporting application servers (e.g. WebSphere, Apache Tomcat) and web servers (e.g. Apache HTTP Server).

• Knowledge of F5 Big IP devices, security certificates, and basic networking concepts.

• Experience with cloud-based Middleware solutions on Azure, including Azure Application Gateways.

• Ability to analyze technical problems, troubleshoot complex systems, and provide solutions under tight time constraints.

• Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

• Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem solving.

A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud-based Middleware solutions, including Azure, AWS, or OCI.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Bicep to deploy and manage middleware resources.

• Experience using Azure Application Gateway and Azure DevOps (ADO) for application and traffic management.

• Experience with GitHub.

• Experience with scripting languages, including Jython, UNIX shell scripting, and Ansible automation.

• Experience leading Middleware projects, including software upgrades, implementations, or customer application deployments.

• Understanding of Java programming and integration of third-party Middleware applications.
