Join our incredible Operating Room Team. Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is Wisconsin's largest hospital with a 24/7 on-site heart care team, providing innovative care to a diverse patient population. As a valued team member, you'll make a daily impact in the Operating Room through your dedication and attention to detail.

Schedule Details:
Full-time evening shifts, with a mix of 8 or 10-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, including on-call requirements (approximately 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots in an 8-week schedule). On-call staff must be able to arrive within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a clean, safe environment for optimal patient care using aseptic surgical techniques.
  • Prepare materials and supplies for surgeries, maintaining a sterile field.
  • Assist with setting up equipment and rooms for all surgical procedures.
  • Act as a second assistant as needed during surgeries.
  • Notify staff of equipment and supply issues promptly.
  • Transport patients and supplies as required.
  • Maintain specialty carts and ensure all equipment is ready for use.
  • Position and transport patients safely utilizing proper techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to the care of patients across all ages, ensuring their unique needs are met.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers is required within six months of hire.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment is essential.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
  • Basic computer proficiency is needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform pushing/pulling tasks.
  • Must possess functional sight and hearing, and be able to operate necessary equipment.
  • Regular exposure to various hazards including mechanical, electrical, and biohazardous materials.
  • Must be able to comply with safety protocols including wearing PPE.
