Personal Care Assistant

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support students in academic and behavioral tasks as directed by the teacher or case manager.
- Assist with the implementation of instructional activities across various developmental areas including cognitive, motor, self-help, and social-emotional skills.
- Provide personal care support such as feeding, toileting, hygiene, and positioning for students with physical or developmental disabilities.
- Monitor and manage student behavior in alignment with established behavior intervention plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure student success in inclusive and specialized settings.
- Prepare students for participation in general education classrooms when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior as directed.
- Support students in using orthopedic or assistive equipment and ensure safe mobility and positioning.
- Attend required training sessions and in-services related to medical procedures, instructional strategies, and behavior support.
- Promote positive peer interactions and assist students in developing social skills.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support student learning and well-being.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience working with children with special needs preferred.
- PA Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) - within 1 year
- PA Criminal Background Check (Act 34) - within 1 year
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance (PA Dept. of Education) - within 1 year
- TB Test - within 3 months
- Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form - within 1 year
- Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (Act 126) - valid for 5 years
- Proof of Education - High School Diploma or Official Transcripts
- Basic understanding of First Aid and CPR procedures.
- Familiarity with record-keeping practices.
- Proficient in English grammar, spelling, and communication.
