Schedule/Hours:
This is a full-time evening position consisting of 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with on-call requirements that typically occur overnight.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized environment for optimal patient care, using aseptic techniques for surgical preparation.
  • Assist with various surgical procedures while displaying a solid understanding of techniques and equipment.
  • Ensure operating room efficiency and safety by properly setting up and breaking down equipment between cases.
  • Act as a Second Assistant during surgeries when needed.
  • Report any equipment or supply issues to appropriate staff members.
  • Transport patients and equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain specialty carts and ensure all instruments are sterile and functional.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide age-appropriate care and support based on patients' individual needs.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association is required within 6 months of employment, unless waived by the department leader.

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.

Experience:

  • No prior experience is required for this entry-level position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and equipment used in the OR.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must handle a fast-paced and stressful environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry various weights, push/pull with required force, and perform patient transport duties.
  • Exposure to various hazards; must adhere to safety protocols.
  • Must have functional sight and hearing and be able to wear appropriate protective gear.
