TheDepartment of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois, College of Medicine atPeoria (UICOMP), is seeking Assistant/ Associate/Professor for multiplepositions to assist the department teach and train medical students, residentsand fellows in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology. The Department will supportcandidates with research focus and provide protected time for research andadditional funding support. We also have resources for faculty careerdevelopment. Clinical duties include assisting the department provide patientcare in the hospital and outpatient clinics and perform administrative dutiesand University service as assigned. Requirements are an MD/DO degree or itsforeign equivalent, eligible for an Illinois medical license, and Board certificationor eligibility for certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology. Sometravel may be required between healthcare facilities.
Theideal candidate will be joining a pediatric nephrologist and one Nursepractitioner in a division that provides full range of inpatient and outpatientpediatric nephrology services including all standard forms of dialysis therapyand plasma exchange. Our short term goal is to have a Division with threefaculty (positions already approved). Current specialty clinics includeHypertension clinic with ability to provide ABPM and Bone/metabolic disorderclinic in collaboration with Pediatric Endocrinology. You will do Collaborativework with our transplant surgeons in caring for kidney transplant recipients,including 2-4 new transplant every year. Inpatient call schedule will be 1:3rotation. As the Division grows we anticipate additional provider recruitment.
Position Summary
The division of Pediatric Nephrology provides full service, providing care from neonatal to transition care for nephrology patients along with ESRD services. We work closely with our transplant surgeons and urologists and have an established pediatric transplant program. This is a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to advance a strong clinical and academic career in Pediatric Nephrology.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic and treatment services to children with conditions affecting the kidney or urinary tract, bladder problems, or high blood pressure. Coordinate the efforts of related professionals to assure continuous availability of services. Monitor and take steps to enhance the quality of nephrology services delivered at UICOMP Department of Pediatrics and at UICOMP's main clinical partner, Children's Hospital of Illinois.
- Develop and work on educational programs and activities for medical students and residents in relation to pediatric nephrology.
- Maintain a spirit of inquiry and scholarship in the activities of the Nephrology Service.
- Perform administrative duties and University service as assigned.
- Some travel may be required between healthcare facilities.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- MD degree or foreign equivalent
- Eligible for Illinois Physician License
- Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology
