Duties: The Department of Alumni Relations at The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for the Alumni Engagement Officer. This position will assist the Director of Alumni Relations in developing and executing a creative marketing and communications plan to engage over 75,000 alumni and other key constituencies, including current students, retired faculty, and parents, to build affinity and support for the overall University. The Alumni Engagement Officer reports directly to the Director of Alumni Relations. The position works closely with the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Administrative Assistant and will often interact with members of the Development Team, Office of Communication & Marketing (OCM), current faculty and staff throughout campus, and alumni.
The three main areas of focus for this position include:

Engaging constituents through a multi-platform integrated marketing and communications strategy including targeted email marketing, digital and print communications, and various social media accounts and networks.

Providing proactive guidance to campus colleagues on how best to engage with alumni communities and affinity groups, including supporting departmental activities in marketing, registration management, and events planning.

Managing the Orange & Blue Network alumni network platform to increase inter-alumni and alumni-student interaction.
Responsibilities:
• Implements digital communications for the Office of Development & Alumni Relations, including communications and philanthropic appeals via email and social media.• Ensure continuity and quality across platforms, including email marketing efforts, social media, and print projects.• Serve as liaison with OCM to manage the Alumni Relations’ website and social media outlets and coordinate closely with OCM to facilitate paid social media campaigns, event promotion, and online fundraising campaigns.• Assist the Alumni Director and OCM’s Assistant Director of Development & Alumni Communication in the development of content for the monthly Connect E-newsletter, the annual alumni New Paltz Magazine, Orange & Blue Network communications, and Alumni website/email/social media content.• Manage the Almabase event platform to facilitate event communications, registration, and data transfer to our CRM (Raiser’s Edge). Actively partner with the Associate Director, Research and Operations, on platform upgrades, data transfer updates, trainings, etc.• Manage and market the Orange & Blue Network platform and create growth and participation strategies, including stewarding its mentoring resources to students and alumni.• Monitor and respond to campus data requests.• Participate in strategic planning in all areas of Alumni Relations communications and marketing.• Manage student staff related to digital media and communications.• Provide communications, marketing and logistical support for all Alumni Relations events and activities.
Qualifications: Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously• Ability to work independently and as a team member• Familiarity with developing and editing HTML/CSS. Experience with CMS (e.g. WordPress and Terminal Four)• Ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse community both internal and external to the University• Ability to uphold brand identity standards and work with an institutional style guide• Knowledgeable of current social media trends and best practices• Must be available to represent the University and Alumni Relations at meetings and events both on campus and off-site where travel is outside of core hours
Preferred:
• Master’s Degree• Minimum of two years of higher education or non-profit experience• Familiarity with AP Style• Experience in Canva, Photoshop and Adobe Suite Experience running paid campaigns on social media a plus• Experience working with Raiser’s Edge or another relational database• Experience creating campaigns within an email marketing platform (e.g. MyEmma, Constant Contact, MailChimp)• Familiarity with event registration software (e.g. Almabase, Cvent, Eventbrite)• Past Alumni Relations experience
