We are looking for a Senior Heavy Duty Fleet Mechanic to join our team In this key role, you will be responsible for advanced diagnostics, major repairs, and proactive maintenance of Heavy Duty fleet vehicles. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring vehicle reliability, minimizing service disruptions, and supporting the safe and efficient transportation of our staff and clients.

Compensation:

  • $40.00 - $50.00 / Hour plus a $7,500 sign-on bonus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular inspections of vehicle systems, ensuring top maintenance standards.
  • Conduct repairs on critical vehicle components such as transmissions, brakes, and engines.
  • Address immediate fleet concerns, maintaining detailed maintenance records and working to minimize road calls.
  • Track vehicle reports and ensure all maintenance files are up-to-date.
  • Respond to field emergencies, coordinating repairs or towing as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the IT Team to manage onboard shuttle technology, ensuring all systems function correctly.
  • Prepare work plans and assign tasks to other technicians as needed.
  • Test drive vehicles post-repair to evaluate performance.
  • Administer diesel engine diagnostic tests and interpret results to find effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts and serviced vehicles.
  • Take on other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • A minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience, specifically with transit buses and motor coaches preferred.
  • 609 (EPA) HVAC Certification.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with HD electrical systems, air brakes, and suspensions.
  • Proficient with diesel engine diagnostic software like Cummins Insite, QuickServe, AllData, WABCO, and Bendix.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical school training preferred.
  • A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • A current/active DOT Medical Card.
  • Pass a pre-employment DOT drug test.
  • Must communicate effectively in English.
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet operational needs, which may include occasional overtime.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASE certifications for Medium-Heavy Trucks and School vehicles.
  • Powertrain Certification.
  • Commercial Drivers License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) endorsement preferred; CDL training may be offered for qualified candidates.
