The job of Nutrition Services Worker is to provide support to the food service activities at the assigned location. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food items to students and/or school personnel, and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.
Essential Functions- Arrange food and beverage items as directed by supervisors for efficient serving to students and staff.
- Attend unit meetings, in?service training, and workshops (e.g., Food Handlers Permit training, safety meetings) to gather required information.
- Clean utensils, equipment, storage, and food preparation and serving areas (e.g., ovens, refrigerators) to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Cook food to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
- Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste.
- Inspect food items and supplies (e.g., flour, serving trays) to verify quantity, quality, and specifications.
- Inventory food, condiments, supplies, and equipment at specified intervals to ensure availability for projected menu requirements.
- Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition to comply with health standards.
- Monitor kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
- Perform functions of other nutritional service positions as requested by supervisor (e.g., account technician, lead cook) to ensure adequate staff coverage.
- Prepare food and beverage items for breakfast, lunch, etc., to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
- Report equipment malfunctions to notify the supervisor of the need for repair or replacement.
- Serve food items to meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Age 16+.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job?related experience is desired.
- Must be able to lift up to 50?lbs. repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 150?lbs. repeatedly throughout the workday.
