Assistant Project Manager - Electrical Miller Electric Company

Join our team as an Assistant Project Manager, focusing on electrical projects across commercial and residential sectors. At Miller Electric, we design, install, and maintain advanced electrical systems, spanning traditional contracting, security solutions, audio?visual integration, wireless networking, and building management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in managing all aspects of project management, including financial performance, scheduling, and change order management.
  • Establish and maintain outstanding customer relationships and ensure project goals are met.
  • Provide financial acumen: understanding costs, revenue, billings, projections, margin, gains, deductions, commitments, AR, AP, etc.
  • Assist with estimating, change orders, scope identification, vendor and subcontractor quoting.
  • Take part in scheduling, work breakdown structures, and use of scheduling software (Microsoft Project, P6).
  • Control documents: analyze blueprints/specifications, review proposals, prepare and track submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate material procurement, compliance with corporate policies and federal/state laws, inventory, and material deliveries.
  • Communicate regularly with peers and cross?regional teams and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
  • Apply leadership skills to manage customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
  • Follow company system, technology platforms for financials and project management, and maintain documented processes and procedures.
  • Display strong conflict?resolution and problem?solving skills and promote a positive corporate culture.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years as an Assistant Project Manager with commercial electrical work.
  • Good ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience preparing take?offs and estimates for change orders.
  • Knowledge of construction aspects (labor, materials, equipment, methods) and industry practices, processes, and standards.
  • Strong computer skills, quick learner of new systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Independent and team?oriented work capability.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Effective scheduling and delegation to accomplish tasks on time.
  • Conflict resolution and problem?solving abilities.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full?time basis without employer sponsorship; visa sponsorship not available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Journeyman or master electricians license.
  • Familiarity with computer?based estimating.
  • Knowledge of billing and collections.
