THE POSITION

Develops, plans, organizes, coordinates and administers assigned projects for a County Department; performs administrative and budgeting duties. This class is characterized by its management responsibility over a variety of administrative and fiscal activities. The position manages an assigned project or projects within a department, and serves in an administrative capacity, which requires technical program knowledge. Incumbents participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the assigned program(s) and ensure compliance with laws, regulations and professional standards. This class may be used for complex, sensitive programs that require the interaction with a variety of departments, outside agencies, business groups and/or community groups.

PROBATION DEPARTMENT

The department actively seeks to modify the behaviors that lead to criminal activity and those that allow for a successful transition back into the community. • Facilitating rehabilitation of offenders and holding them accountable
• Conducting investigations and providing recommendations for the court
• Enforcing court orders
• Pursuing victim restoration and advocacy

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Three (3) years of professional level, public or private sector administrative experience involving fiscal, operational and/or legislative analysis.

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science or closely related field. A Masters degree is desirable.

Special Requirements: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Drivers License may be required. Independent travel may be required to various work sites and client residences.

SELECTION PROCESS

Qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will be scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or self?scheduled. The selection process may include initial screening, mandatory information meeting, supplemental questionnaire assessment, written or practical exam, oral board exam or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicants ability to advance in the process.

All potential new hires and employees considered for promotion to management, confidential positions or unrepresented positions will be subject to a background and reference check after contingent job offer is accepted. These provisions are subject to change.
