JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: New Ulm, MN Service Setting: Critical Access Hospital (Emergency Department) Coverage Type: Clinical Only (No Call) Coverage Period: 01/12/ weeks (Jan Jun 2026) Clinical Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00a 7:00p or 7:00p 7:00aCOVERAGE DATES 01/12 30/2026 (68 shifts per month)PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics Patient Volume/Census: 1520 patients per shift; up to 25 during busy season Admissions: Yes Case Mix: Emergency medicine cases across all age groupsFACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 11 Trauma Level: Adult IV EMR System: Epic Office Equipment Available: Standard ED equipment Specialty Backup Available: Ortho, General Surgery, OB/GYN, CRNA, Psych, RT, Teleintensivist Support Staff Available: RT, Psych, Teleintensivist, Ortho, General Surgery, OB/GYN, CRNA, mid-levels (occasionally) Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coveragePRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 6090 days (fingerprinting required; typically 48 hours to post) Orientation: 4 hours, non-billableCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered (local candidates only; flights not covered)REQUIRED PROCEDURES Emergency medicine procedures typical for a single-coverage ED physician Management of neonates through geriatrics Coordination of emergency support servicesJOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active Minnesota license (Required) Board: Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (Required) DEA: Required Certifications: ACLS, PALS, ATLS or CALS (Required) Experience: Prior community site experience preferred Other Qualifications: Experience with Epic EMR preferredDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergency medicine coverage in a single-coverage ED setting Manage 1520 patients per shift, with seasonal increases to 25 patients Deliver care across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics Collaborate with available specialty and support staff including Ortho, Surgery, OB/GYN, CRNA, and Psych Document all patient encounters accurately in Epic EMR
