Project Manager

• Manage, lead, and oversee all team activities, including production documents, client management, internal team management, and project financials.
• Develop project timelines, including phases, completion dates, and milestones, and establish workflow and project plan.
• Prepare contracts and proposals, establish the scope of work, schedules, and fees. Prepare and submit proposals to clients after SPM review. Participate in new project interviews.
• Lead project kickoff and closeout meetings and coordinate project meetings with internal team members and external design partners.
• Serve as the primary client contact to understand goals, ensure the design meets their needs and specifications, and represent the client in public meetings.
• Monitor project health by reviewing project plans, design, budgets, billings, schedule, and progress; resolve problems and coordinate all project activities. Course correct with team members to meet project objectives (including other departments and sub-consultants).
• Delegate project tasks to team members, provide clear direction on deliverables, and establish clear deadlines with team member affirmation.
• Consult collaboratively with the external project team to achieve project goals.
• Manage invoices, including change orders and additional services.
• Manage permit submittal processes and coordination with review authorities. Determine requirements quickly as project locations vary.
• Provide quality assurance and control. Guide technical staff on project issues and engineering principles.
• Manage project resources and oversee the technical engineering components of the project.
• Increase the team's effectiveness by developing staff, aligning strengths with tasks, identifying obstacles, and performing reviews.
• Balance staffing and workload through collaboration with the team and SPM.
• Monitor the work of team members to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
• Participate in new hire interviews and staffing selection.
• Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews aligned with the performance management cycle.
• Initiate knowledge sharing (lunch and learn) for new technology or best practices.
• Mentor team members across engineering.
• Complete personal timecards accurately and review/approve associate timecards on time.
• Develop future business and build relationships with existing clients; 25% of projects should be new business and 75% should be assigned projects or repeat clients.
• Communicate effectively (written and verbal) internally and externally (clients, sub-consultants, municipalities).
• Participate in executing strategic initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of company practices and processes.
• Be an ambassador for EPS at industry events and conferences; may require attending project team and public meetings after hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Aim for a 60-70% billable utilization rate. Non-billable activities include meetings, development, and other company initiatives.
• Manage $500k-$1.8M in projects and supervise up to 4-8 staff members.

• Bachelors degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience with land development projects with a proven record of success as a project engineer and strong technical background.
• Professional knowledge of Microsoft Office, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Pipe Networks.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with high emotional intelligence; able to interface in-person and remotely (videoconferencing, phone, etc.).
• Ability to monitor project progress from a financial and schedule perspective, with attention to scope creep.
• Capability to promote teamwork, lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering design processes, plan set preparation, and agency approvals.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks for highly technical work in a matrix environment.
• Effective delegation of production and administrative tasks to focus on management responsibilities.
