Job Summary

This substitute position prepares, serves, and delivers breakfast and lunch meals to students while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and district policies. Responsibilities include cashiering, student account management, quality control, and maintaining a clean, safe food service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service.
• Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious, and appetizing breakfast and lunch.
• Act as cashier and manage student accounts using the point of sale system.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the site, equipment, and textiles in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines, including the HACCP program.
• Ensure proper food storage as per federal, state, and local nutritional standards.
• Provide feedback on the meals offered.
• Assist in preparing National School Lunch Program (NSLP) compliant meals.
• Promote food service purchases through marketing and stakeholder engagement.
• Continuously monitor compliance with safety standards.
• Support school activities that encourage stakeholder involvement in student learning.
• Help implement standards and procedures.
• Deliver constructive feedback to staff to encourage high performance.
• Lead and participate in professional development for staff.
• Coach use of technology to enhance achievement and accuracy.
• Demonstrate patience with stakeholders during implementation of new systems, policies, and procedures.
• Attend conferences, trainings, and professional development to stay current on nutrition matters.
• Establish rapport with stakeholders for proactive problem resolution.
• Address safety concerns and ensure compliance with district safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  

Budget and Resource Responsibilities

• Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently.
• Implement effective process management strategies (procedures, equipment, materials).
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards and policy.
  

Education, Training, and Experience

High School graduate or equivalent.
Bilingual preferred (English fluency verified during application and interview).

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Colorado Drivers License.
Serving It Safe certification within one year of hire.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting of 535 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Frequent bending, walking, standing, reaching, and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
• Use of hands for fine manipulation, typing, and other tasks requiring eyehand coordination.
• Concentrated reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Visual concentration on equipment.
• Speak, hear, smell, and taste.
  

Work Environment

Moderate to loud noise; regular exposure to odors, moisture, extreme temperatures, and moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to hazardous materials and bodily fluids. Mostly clean and comfortable setting.

Reports To

Nutrition Services Manager or designee.
