Aquatic Sales Associate for startup aquarium

Under supervision, the Aquatic Sales Associates primary responsibilities include selling store merchandise such as live fish, tanks, and pet products (dog or cat), as well as maintaining, cleaning, installing, supporting, and caring for live aquatic animals and their systems. Additional tasks involve customer service, technical assistance, and supporting other Sales Associates.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Provide outstanding customer service to create a unique shopping experience.
- Maintain advanced product knowledge and stay updated on new products, technology, and aquatic care techniques.
- Meet sales performance expectations and goals.
- Complete necessary forms and legal obligations using web browsers.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced, modern environment.
- Lift up to 50 lbs., bend, reach, climb ladders, and perform tasks across the store.
- Follow ongoing sales campaigns, promotions, and marketing efforts.
- Maintain aquariums and provide animal care, including feeding and health monitoring.
- Assist with moving merchandise, cleaning, and inventory management.
- Provide urgent care for incoming live fish shipments.
- Set up tanks, systems, pumps, plumbing, and related tasks.
- Support water filtration, saltwater creation, and transport.
- Travel occasionally for trade shows or educational sessions.
- Follow all store policies and procedures.
- Outgoing, friendly personality with excellent customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and care.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with electronic devices, including iPads, Android devices, and email.
- Ability to interpret situations and make judgements carefully.
- Mathematical skills for dosing and mixing products using the metric system.
- Passion for marine biology and aquatic species.
- Assertive, confident, and dependable.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
- Enthusiastic about improving service standards and developing new sales techniques.
- 1-3 years of retail or customer service experience preferred.
- 3+ years in reef and fish husbandry or related field highly preferred.
- BS or ongoing studies in biological sciences or ichthyology desirable.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Work in an environment with dogs and cats present.
- Use a smartphone and access Wi-Fi and company apps.
- Operate POS systems and perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, climbing, and reaching.
