Job Overview

Quality Engineer at Northstar Aerospace

The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for assessing process capability, product performance, and supporting product and process qualifications. The QE facilitates new production introduction and contract reviews, and addresses key account activities from a quality assurance perspective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measurement method efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assess and interpret customer drawings and related part design features and characteristics
  • Interpret customer and industry specification requirements
  • Evaluate/analyze parts using appropriate inspection tools such as gage blocks, calipers, micrometers, dial bore gauges, optical comparators, etc.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Monitor and evaluate manufacturing process outputs
  • Review and approve inspection planning for production parts
  • Prepare for and participate in external audits such as Nadcap, AS9100, Customer, DCMA and FAA
  • Analyze all nonconformity data and conduct corrective actions addressing the root cause of issues
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or equivalent
  • 5?10 years experience as an Aerospace Quality or Mechanical Engineer supporting precision machining processes
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace blueprints (GD&T knowledge is a plus)
  • Proficient in root cause corrective action concepts and tools
  • Experience with statistical tools such as Cp/Cpk, Pp/PpK, ANOVA and GR&R is a plus
  • Product and process qualification experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and problem?solving mindset
  • Adaptable to changes in a fast?paced work environment
  • Knowledgeable in GD&T and blueprint interpretation
  • Experience with AS9100 / AS9100D (certification is a plus)
  • Experience with Nadcap requirements preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
