As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a significant role in building world class capabilities to solve real world business problems in the merchandising area of Sam's Club.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with deep experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI (GenAI), and Agentic AI. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Large Language Models (LLMs), LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, and AI evaluation frameworks. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI assistants, chatbots, and agentic systems.

About Team: Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivaled by traditional retail. Sam's Club provides a carefully curated assortment of items, as well as developing and leading technologies and services such as Scan & Go, Club Pickup, and home delivery service in select markets. Sam's Club also provides travel, auto purchasing, pharmacy, optical, hearing aid centers, tire and battery centers, and a portfolio of business operations support services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and deploy AI-powered assistants, chatbots, and agentic AI solutions.
  • Develop and integrate with LLMs using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, and CrewAI.
  • Implement evaluation pipelines and use LLMs as judges for model and agent performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver robust AI products.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in GenAI, LLMs, and agentic architectures.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in AI/GenAI/Agentic AI.
  • Strong proficiency with Python and experience with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with LangGraph, LangChain, and CrewAI.
  • Experience building and deploying AI assistants, chatbots, or agentic AI systems.
  • Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and using LLMs as judges.
  • Proficient in modern software engineering best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with prompt engineering and fine-tuning LLMs.
  • Background in AI safety, ethics, or evaluation methodologies.
  • Contributions to open-source AI/GenAI projects.

Minimum Qualifications: Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
