Job Description:

The Sanitation Associate role is responsible for maintaining sanitation in and around the warehouse as set forth by the direction of the MHE Maintenance Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Wash and sweep warehouse floors by driving and pushing a floor wash machine.
• Provide general clean-up of areas around the warehouse.
• Remove trash and recycling from all warehouse spaces and surrounding areas.
• Safely operate pallet jacks to pick up and move large trash/recycling barrels. Must pass all safety and equipment operations training provided by the company.
• Ensure warehouse spaces are kept clean and organized.
• Pick up trash/recycling, remove and maintain grounds outside of the warehouse.
• Assist with outside grounds maintenance as needed, including but not limited to shoveling and removing snow and applying ice melt during the winter months.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• 1 - 2 years previous experience, with experience in industrial warehouse environment/distribution center is preferred.
• Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping and attendance standards.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Experience operating pallet jacks is preferred.

Work Environment:

• Work primarily in a distribution center environment. Physically active position including positioning oneself, moving, transporting, and ascending and descending ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
• Responsible for physical activities including using equipment, position self to properly complete tasks, ascend and descend to heights of 20 feet or more. Should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
• While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to outside weather conditions and/or moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, or electrical components. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Some work in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Some sedentary, and near vision use for reading and computer use.
