The Personnel Security Specialist, II processes security clearances with the DoD and with DHS, assesses pre-screen to determine if a candidate meets eligibility requirements for access./ppstrongDuties and Responsibilities:/strong/pulliConduct pre-screen assessments for Security clearance eligibility for Secret, DHS Fitness, and Top-Secret Security clearances./liliMake independent assessments to determine eligibility./liliInitiate the requests using eApp for new security clearances and Fitness and for initial clearances, DHS Fitness and periodic updates for DoD and DHS./liliReview SF86s for accuracy and return to employees for corrective actions or submit to government for processing./liliVerifying individual security clearances in the DISS, Scattered Castles and the DHS databases to ensure clearance investigation is complete and current with the correct information./liliAssist with compiling and submitting monthly metrics by direction of Lead or manager./liliFollow-up on DCSA and DHS requests for documentation./liliAssist candidates with completing SF 86 and SF 85 forms./liliMaintain the SIMS database, create status reports for the FSOs, CSSOs, and leadership as needed./liliCommunicate with DCSA and DHS representatives on clearance actions and make independent decisions to resolve clearance processing actions./liliEnsure policies, procedures, and desk guides are updated and followed./liliProduce RAND employee Badges and maintain accountability in SIMS./liliGrant and remove building accesses in the access control system./liliWorking and closing JIRA tickets as assigned./liliOther duties as assigned./liliRemain current with emerging technologies, maintaining professional relationships with relevant colleagues and attending occasional technology conferences./liliOther duties as assigned./li/ulpstrongEducation:/strong/pulliHigh School Diploma or GED required./liliAssociates degree preferred./li/ulpstrongRequired Experience, Knowledge and Skills:/strong/pulli1+ years of experience required./liliProficiency with Microsoft Office applications./liliExcellent written and verbal communication skills./liliFamiliarity with SIMS, DISS, NBIS (replacing DISS), Scattered Castles SWFT, eApp./liliExcellent customer service skills./liliMust be able to work independently and make decisions that affect timelines for clearance processing./li/ulpstrongSecurity Clearance:/strong/pulliMust meet eligibility requirements for access to U.S. government classified information./li/ulpstrongLocation:/strong/pulliSanta Monica, CA/liliThis position is 100% onsite./li/ulpstrongSalary:/strong $64,400-$96,100 RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidates work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidates education and experience. The salary range includes base pay plus RANDs sabbatical pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
