Job Title: Quality Improvement Lead Critical Care
Department: Health System Shared Services | Quality and Operations
Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality and reliability of clinical care. The Quality Improvement Lead develops and executes strategic quality plans within designated areas to assure the Center continues to be innovative and world?renowned in its approaches to quality and world?class care. Under the direction of the Associate Director for Quality Program Coordination, the Lead identifies and implements strategic and service?line specific quality initiatives that support all levels of patient care.
The Lead applies specialized clinical quality improvement knowledge and sophisticated analytical skills to lead an innovative quality management and improvement program supporting performance metric achievement in alignment with organizational goals. To achieve these goals, the Lead evaluates patterns, trends, and processes to improve the quality of care for patients across the Health System, working with multidisciplinary teams and leveraging comparative clinical data, including internal and external benchmarking, to identify gaps and facilitate clinical process improvement initiatives.
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, the Lead independently leads multiple, broad?scope, highly complex process/quality improvement initiatives within the designated area(s) of responsibility.
Position SummaryThe Quality Improvement Lead will report directly to the Associate Director of Quality Program Coordination and collaborate with the Quality Departments Senior Director, Directors, and Associate Directors. Responsibilities include developing and executing service?line?specific strategies for clinical quality improvement, monitoring and evaluating quality programs, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, and leading gap?closure strategies with clinical leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identification and prioritization of clinical quality improvement gaps/opportunities based on comparative clinical data.
- Facilitation of process improvement data collection, analysis, evaluation, and report dissemination.
- Implementation of evidence?based best practices to inform service?line action plans.
- Leading the clinical performance improvement process, from prioritization through implementation.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of change management strategies and revising them as needed.
- Coordinating communication within and between multidisciplinary key collaborators and stakeholders.
- Masters Degree in a Clinical Field and clinical licensure.
- 2 years of relevant experience required; 46 years preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in delivering high?quality, safe healthcare.
- Project management experience and proficiency with quality tools (DMAIC, Lean Six Sigma, PDSA).
- Proven track record of achieving results with complex and dynamic teams.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to learn new systems software.
- Maintenance of continuing education credits, licensure, and certifications as required.
