Sr Project Manager

Overview

PURPOSE
Create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group mission statement with employees, internal and external clients. Additionally, provide opportunities to increase business unit revenues by marketing and cross selling products and services provided by Baker Group. Manage projects in a manner that compliments all facets of the project from design to owner training. Maintain and grow the Client for Life concept for existing and new clients.

PURPOSE

Responsibilities

• Deep understanding of automation systems and construction with a background in mechanical and electrical systems and services.
• Collaborate with all Baker Group Business Units (BUs) to leverage capabilities.
• Offer and implement solutions to clients through engineering and field personnel.
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing clients and pursue opportunities for revenue growth.
• Educate clients on Baker Group capabilities in automation and cross-sell capabilities for other BUs.
• Utilize internal estimating software and standard product selections to develop client solutions and verify deliverability before submission.
• Act as account manager or single point of contact with the client during project execution.
• Attend scheduling meetings with Operations Manager and assist with scheduling field labor.
• Attend internal and external project meetings; provide written and verbal communication regarding information requests, proposals, coordination, submittals, etc.
• Initiate turnover meetings to engineering and field teams discussing scope, safety, timelines, etc.
• Procure subcontracts as required for installation, using documented procurement formats when obtaining multiple bids.
• Follow company standard documents for business development, pre-proposal checklists, turnovers, subcontracts, purchase orders, warranty, etc.
• Manage projects to ensure financial success and accurate daily time and equipment reporting.
• Coach, mentor, and train project managers, project engineers and system engineers in Automation and other BUs.
• Assist with development of marketing materials and performance at partner training and education events.
• Assist with and lead Tier III Business Development Pursuits.
• Assist with development of Core Processes and Standards.

Minimum Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Automation and HVAC systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating and managing automation projects, as well as building and growing client relationships.
• Must have a good driving record.
• A contingency for employment will require successfully passing a background investigation.

Environment and Physical Requirements

Environmental Adaptability: Normal office conditions; occasional field and client interactions on construction job sites.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally.
• Significant field and client interactions may require prolonged standing, walking and/or climbing stairs.
• Occasional exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
