Heavy Civil Project Manager

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of complex civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roadway, bridge, utility, or large site development work, along with the leadership and technical skills needed to manage personnel, budgets, schedules, and client expectations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all phases of project management from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, cost controls, and progress tracking.
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Engineers, Estimators, and field teams to ensure safe and efficient execution.
  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, and submittals to ensure compliance and constructability.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contract negotiations, and ongoing vendor relationships.
  • Prepare RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
  • Monitor project performance, production rates, and financial metrics to ensure profitability and schedule adherence.
  • Conduct regular site visits to review progress, safety, quality, and adherence to project plans.
  • Lead progress meetings with owners, DOT representatives, municipalities, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Solve field challenges through effective communication, planning, and resource coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of proven project management experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong background in roadway, bridge, utilities, earthwork, or DOT projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contracts.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (P6, MS Project, HCSS, Procore, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and cost controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
