Job Title: Patent Prosecution - Patent Agent (Biotech)

Location: Boston, MA
Pay: $150,000 - $250,000 + bonus eligibility
Schedule: Hybrid (On-site approximately 60% of the time)

Our client, a top-tier Am Law 100 firm, excels in providing comprehensive patent law services to clients on the forefront of biotechnology innovation. Their Boston office is seeking a skilled Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in biological sciences to join their dynamic Intellectual Property team. This role supports biotech clients by securing patent protections, building IP portfolios, and conducting critical freedom-to-operate analyses.

  • Manage client patent portfolios and coordinate international prosecution efforts
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications and office action responses
  • Collaborate with inventors to develop patent applications from scientific disclosures
  • Conduct scientific literature and patent analyses in various biotech fields
  • Perform patent landscape and freedom-to-operate searches, including IP due diligence for investment opportunities and public offerings
What you need to succeed:
  • Admission to the USPTO required
  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution, with skills in drafting applications from disclosures or inventor interviews
  • Strong ability to communicate scientific concepts to both scientific and non-scientific audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize effectively
