SURGICAL TECH - FIRST ASSISTANT - Full-time

Location: East Lansing, MI

Length: Long-Term, Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY PMC is seeking a Surgical Tech - First Assist, for a fast-paced hospital environment for patient care. You will have the ability to assist patients in their physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing in a collaborative and meaningful way working alongside other healthcare professionals. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be a trained surgical technologist - first assistant, who scrubs in to assist the surgeon by providing sterile instruments and supplies required. Arranges instruments and supplies appropriately on sterile field; opens and prepares sutures as indicated, passes instruments, retracts tissue and assists surgeon as requested. May occasionally circulate with the RN in the room. Strives for superior performance.

Efficiently prepares equipment and packs for the operative procedure.Applies principles of aseptic technique during surgical procedures, including proper scrubbing, gowning and gloving self and other surgical team members.Identifies and obtains needed supplies and equipment. Assists in assuring correct sponge, needle, and instrument counts.Identifies and labels specimens appropriately.Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.Cleans up room after case completed.Maintains specialty carts. EDUCATION

Associate's degree in Surgical Technology - First Assistant or Military Trained.All candidates must have completed an approved (NCCT, AST) program as a surgical technologist, certification is preferred.

Would consider an experienced RCIS.Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider required upon hire and ongoing.

EXPERIENCEPrevious experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred.
