We are excited to find a Senior Environmental Biologist / Project Lead who embodies a passion for natural systems and a commitment to professional development. This role is ideal for individuals with a robust background, boasting over 10 years of experience, working in diverse ecosystems. Our focus is on actively marketing existing contracts and bolstering client relationships, while also leading and mentoring our junior technical staff.

This exempt, full-time position offers remote flexibility, with hybrid work arrangements as necessary. Who You Are

You possess a bachelor's degree in a natural science (e.g., biology, ecology, environmental science) along with a minimum of **10+ years of professional experience** specializing in fields such as botany, arboriculture, wetlands, wildlife, conservation, and resource management. You are an experienced biologist, adept at performing evaluations and technical studies related to natural resources.

Your project management expertise encompasses scoping and budgeting, ensuring effective project delivery. You have a comprehensive grasp of ecological assessment methods and a knack for tackling complex, multi-disciplinary challenges.

Your communication skills are exceptional; you excel at engaging clients, working effectively with interdisciplinary teams, and securing new project opportunities. You will lead the preparation of proposals and budgets, tactfully reviewing team efforts and contributing to marketing strategies to enhance business development.

Your strong familiarity with environmental regulations will guide your work, fostering collaboration to complete projects on time and within budget. Your writing skills are polished, having authored various environmental documents including biological assessments and compliance reports.

You are an effective team player, known for your constructive contributions and mentorship of junior staff. Comfort in outdoor settings, even under challenging conditions, is essential as you will perform a range of fieldwork.

What You Will Accomplish at ESA

  • Lead as the Project Manager, overseeing project logistics, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Direct biological field studies, including habitat and species surveys.
  • Author and peer-review environmental documents ensuring clarity and quality.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, sharing insights and findings effectively.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, and maintain budget controls.
  • Engage in marketing and business development efforts to create new growth opportunities.
  • Adapt standard techniques to undertake a variety of biological studies.
