We're seeking an Estimating Manager in Salt Lake City, UT to lead preconstruction efforts and deliver accurate, competitive bids for commercial mechanical projects.

• Build lasting client relationships through responsive, professional proposal delivery
• Mentor estimating staff and elevate department standards across all project types
Responsibilities
• Oversee all estimating activities from conceptual budgets through final bid submissions
• Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify scope gaps and opportunities
• Manage subcontractor and vendor outreach to secure competitive pricing
• Lead bid strategy meetings and present recommendations to senior leadership
• Coordinate with operations teams to ensure smooth project handoffs
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks
• Develop and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
• Mentor junior estimators and provide technical training on tools and methodologies
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations as required
Requirements
Must-Haves
• 7+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial construction
• Proven track record managing estimates for projects $5M+ in value
• Expert proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating software platforms
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems design and installation
• Experience leading or mentoring estimating teams
• Excellent communication skills for client and internal stakeholder interactions
Nice-to-Haves
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) license
• Design-build or design-assist project experience
• Familiarity with BIM coordination and model-based takeoffs
• Background in value engineering and constructability reviews
