Older Adult Engagement Volunteer

The Asian American Senior Citizens Service Center (AASCSC) is a non-profit organization that serves all age groups and all members of our community. We believe in an inter-generational approach to building a stronger, healthier community through direct services, advocacy, and capacity building. At the heart of these efforts is the imperative to ensure health equity within our community.
The Older Adult Engagement Volunteer team (vOAE) supports our senior wellness activities by helping create a welcoming, interactive space for older adults—many of whom benefit greatly from companionship, social engagement, and cultural connection.
Volunteer Duties
- Participate in at least 50% of older adult meetings at AASCSC (in-person)
- Meetings usually occur 2-3 times per month
- Schedule may vary (but will be on weekdays during the daytime)
- Assisting during AASCSC event with engaging older adults (where applicable)
- [Optional] Leading, or assist with leading, activities for older adults
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Pass an interview, trial period, background check (if over 18 years old), and orientation/training process
- Have stable transportation in order to come to our center and commute to community events as needed
- [Optional] May speak Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages
