Position: Director of Acute Care Pharmacy Services
Location: Northern Illinois & Southern Wisconsin

Overview:
The Director of Acute Care Pharmacy Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all hospital-based pharmacy departments across the health system. This role focuses on optimizing medication use processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the quality, safety, and efficiency of pharmacy services. The Director collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders to standardize pharmacy operations and support system-wide goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of acute care pharmacy operations, including financial, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and programs to improve pharmacy efficiency, safety, and patient care outcomes.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics, budgets, and staff development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, USP 797/800, and state/federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, and ancillary departments to align pharmacy services with organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership within key committees such as Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Patient Safety.
Qualifications:
  • PharmD from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency in health-system pharmacy administration or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in health-system pharmacy management (5+ years preferred in large or complex health systems).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Illinois and Wisconsin .
  • Master's degree in Pharmacy Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Business preferred.
  • Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team development capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and EMR systems (EPIC preferred).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with 340B and Specialty Pharmacy programs.
