A physical therapist (PT) is a licensed health care professional who helps patients improve their mobility and reduce pain. They work with patients who have injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions that limit their ability to move or function. PTs use a variety of techniques to help patients, including:

    • Evaluation: Review patient medical history and referrals, and observe patients' movements and concerns
    • Treatment planning: Create individualized plans that outline goals and expected outcomes
    • Treatment: Use exercises, stretching, hands-on therapy, and equipment to help patients
    • Progress evaluation: Evaluate and record patient progress, and modify the treatment plan as needed
  • Education: Educate patients and their families about the recovery process
  • Training: Train patients in the use of assistive devices and perform activities of daily living programs
  • Documentation: Maintain patient records and charts
