Commerce City seeks a Civil Engineer II to apply professional engineering expertise across a broad range of development review and infrastructure-related projects. This role conducts technical evaluations of engineering plans and reports, including drainage, traffic, stormwater, and geotechnical documentation to ensure alignment with City standards and regulatory requirements. The position contributes to safe, sustainable, and well-planned development while advancing City priorities related to land use, transportation, floodplain management, and public improvements.

This position is well-suited for an engineering professional who values technical rigor, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences clearly. The Civil Engineer II works with internal teams, engineering consultants, and community stakeholders; participates in development review and public meetings; and contributes to process improvements, project coordination, and technical recommendations. In addition to sound technical judgment, the role emphasizes clear communication, practical judgment, and the ability to balance regulatory standards with real-world, community-focused outcomes.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
Hiring Range $88,258.58 - $98,065.09 / Annually

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution. Three-years of experience in Civil Engineering or closely related field is required. Must possess a valid driver's license.
