Job Title: Principal AI Software Architect
Location: Hybrid - Onsite in Columbus, OH Tuesdays & Thursdays
Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal AI Software Architect to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI-driven software solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment and is passionate about leveraging public AI models to automate and optimize enterprise processes.

Key Responsibilities
• Architect and develop scalable AI-driven platforms and software systems aligned with strategic business goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define use cases and deliver impactful solutions.
• Evaluate and select AI and software technologies for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Promote best practices in AI model development, MLOps, software engineering, DevOps, and system architecture.
• Mentor engineering teams and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Drive technical strategy and long-term planning aligned with organizational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and ethical standards.
• Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
• Contribute to ongoing projects in areas such as telecom, freight, scheduling, and user access mechanisms.

Required Skills & Experience
• 7+ years in software architecture and engineering, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML systems.
• Strong development background (approximately 60% development / 40% architecture).
• Experience implementing public AI models (e.g., ChatGPT, LLMs) to automate manual processes.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering to optimize AI outputs.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Deven).
• Expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and generative AI.
• Proven experience deploying solutions in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft tech stack: SQL Server, C#, .NET; Python experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Work closely with a team of 8, including leadership, in a hybrid setup (Tuesdays and Thursdays onsite).
