Avant Energy is seeking a Vice President Finance to support its clients in the financing of electricity generation and transmission. Client needs include advice on financing of enterprises, financing of energy projects and advice on investment of funds.

Avant primarily serves community-oriented organizations including public power agencies, municipalities, native American tribes and colleges and universities. We provide consulting and project development services for most of our clients. Advice on financing projects is part of these services. In addition, Avant provides management services to the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency and the Northern Illinois Municipal Power Agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President Finance will be part of our consulting and project development practice and report to Avant's CEO. The responsibilities of the VP Finance include:

  • Evaluation of Projects
  • Preparing Financial Projections for Projects
  • Preparing Financing Plans for Projects
  • Preparing Financial Projections for the Agencies we serve
  • Risk Management for Clients
  • Advising Clients on Financing
  • Presentations to Rating Agencies
  • Assisting Clients in Selection of Underwriters and Banks
  • Management of Financings
Travel requirements are expected to be approximately 20%.

QUALIFICATIONS

You should have an MBA with an emphasis in finance. You should also have ten years experience in advising clients on financing.

The Vice President Finance is also responsible for compliance with Dodd Frank requirements. Advising clients requires a series 50 license. Overseeing compliance requires a series 54 license.

Candidates should be familiar with government funding programs including the Inflation Reduction Act.
