Heart Failure ICU Nurse Practitioner

Compensation: $135200-$147680

Shift: Full-Time Nights
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive patient care through systemic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and in-hospital follow-up in accordance with Texas Nurse Practice Act.
- Manage critically ill patients, including those with VV/VA ECMO, Mechanical Circulatory Support, Heart Transplant, Lung Transplant, LVAD, Post-op Cardiac Surgery.
- Perform advanced interventions including arterial line placement, central line placement, pulmonary artery catheter placement, lumbar puncture, intubations, chest tube removal, and thoracentesis.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, evaluate, and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, research, and teaching projects.
- Educate patients and families on care and resources, ensuring safe, high-quality care.
- Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Education: Graduate of an NP program approved by the State of Texas (Master's preferred). Acute Care NP experience required for critical care settings.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Texas RN license
- Certification by ANCC, NCC, or AACN in specialty area
- BLS, ACLS (PALS/NRP if applicable), ATLS (for Trauma)
- Experience:
- 2+ years of RN or NP Critical Care experience required; Cardiology experience preferred
- Experience with Heart Failure population required (RN or NP)
- New NPs must have 2+ years of ICU RN experience
- Skills: Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work autonomously and manage critically ill patients.
